Come and meet singles as passionate as you are at our Speed Dating events!
Whatever your passion, come and potentially meet someone who shares it!
FAQ General
I don’t live in Montreal, are you going to do events in Quebec City? Saguenay, Sherbrooke, Trois-Rivières?
We’ve just started! Give us time to fine-tune the formula, identify people’s needs, and if our team grows big enough and everything works out, we’ll expand to other cities.
How to dress?
Business attire. Neat appearance. As if you were going on dates. Come to please whether in friendship or love.
Why Geek?
As Geeks ourselves, we have become aware of the misunderstanding caused when we share our passions with certain other people. We want to bring together passionate singles so that they can share their passions without shame.
And then we needed something different from the other offers in town. 🙂
What does it mean Geek?
For us, they are passionate people, whether it’s science, literature, botany, history, comics, manga, anime, video games, board games, cinema, cosplay… . People who love to learn and explore topics passionately.
But it’s marked Geek so there are only guys, right?
Many women are passionate about the fields mentioned above, but do not qualify as Geek. That’s not a problem. Everyone is welcome as long as these people are respectful of other people.
We do our best to achieve a balanced number of women and men, however we cannot guarantee a precise number of participants.
In the event that there is too much disparity, the events will be postponed or cancelled.
I’m not a Geek, I’m a Nerd/Dork, can I come anyway?
Yes! All respectful people are welcome!
FAQ Speed Dating
How does a Speed Dating event work?
Join us at the location indicated on the day of the event. Introduce yourself and chat with the other participants already present.
About 30 minutes after the doors open, we start the event.
You sit in front of a person of the opposite sex, you introduce yourself to them, and every 5 minutes you change the interlocutor. All women meet all men and vice versa.
You then note down the names of the people you’d like to match with. If it’s reciprocal, we’ll share contact details in the days that follow.
After the speed dating, you will be able to chat with whomever you want in a respectful way until the end of the event.
But what are you talking about, your events are constantly full for men?
With our company Écran Partage, which is a media outlet, which organizes video game events, and which works in the industry, we naturally have a more male readership.
In order to allow for gender-balanced events, we open male registrations in increments of 5. When enough women are registered to allow for some parity, the men then on the waiting list are notified and can buy a ticket.
Other dating events in the city have communication that appeals to women first, and have the opposite problem. They are constantly looking for male participants.
Who are the events for?
The events are aimed at heterosexual or homosexual singles.
I’m gay, are you going to do events for us?
Yes, we’re trying at the moment.
Why don’t some of your events have the word Geek next to it?
We test, we start, we iterate. We can see if people are afraid of this word when they sign up or not. We can see the clichés that people have in their heads, with the comments we receive, but we test to see if it can attract people to add or remove the word.
When our events are sufficiently known, this should no longer be a problem because people will be used to it.
FAQ Speed Friending
How does a Speed Friending event work?
Join us at the location indicated on the day of the event. Introduce yourself and chat with the other participants already present.
About 30 minutes after the doors open, we start the event.
Sit down at a table of 4, and introduce yourself! If you don’t have anything to talk about, we’ll make some suggested questions available. After 15-20 minutes, we ask 2 people at each table to move to another table. This way, after a few rotations, everyone should have met.
If you’re attracted to someone, you can ask for their contact details directly, or write down on a sheet of paper that you’d like to “match”. If it’s mutual, we’ll share the details with you within a few days.
After the rotations, everyone is free to talk with whomever they like.
Écran Partagé Inc. is committed to providing an inclusive space (safe space) for all event participants.
